Happy Hardworking Holidays

All of you must have surely watched a movie on completion of semester exams, Good !!!
But now its time to do something BETTER than just GOOD its time to turn into a real engineer.

Wikipedia says An engineer is a professional practitioner of engineering, concerned with applying scientific knowledge, mathematics, and ingenuity to develop solutions for technical, societal and commercial problems. Now if you sum up the technical trerms out of it we have

Professional Practitioner of Engineering
Applying Scientific Knowledge
Ingenuity to develop solutions.

Check it out by yourself how many qualities you have among the above ??
ONE TWO THREE or ALL of them.
IF you think you have all of the above qualities shutoff the blog right now
IF don't then get the trick to develop them each one by one. Its difficult to completely understand the term but we will still try to get best out of it.

1. Professional Practitioner of Engineering

2. Applying Scientific Knowledge

Its not difficult to adopt this, you have had sufficient knowledge to atleast try to do so. but this is just the beginning go for something high and try out your Knowledege on some practical ideas using some of the simulation softwares:
EAGLE, TINA, Proteus, Simulink, T-spice.

 3. Ingenuity to develop solutions
The biggest regret you will have after returning from holidays is you will find yourself incapable(atleast for few days) of finding solutions of some genuine problems. This can be overcome by simply keeping your mind sharp, use it everywhere you can.

If atleast anyone of you would follow these instructions, my writing of blog will be successful and remember the one can be YOU.

How to write Semester Exam

Now its exam time and all of you must be finding notes, old question papers and other useful stuff, go ahead with that. I will help you with some useful tips for writing exams.

Lets understand this why do girls score more marks (generally) than boys ?
How a teacher who can't teach in class can check the notebooks ?

The reason lies in the beauty of presentation.
The exam duration is 180 minutes
No of questions 10
Now if we give 15 minutes to each question we can easily complete the paper in 150 minutes. We are still left with 30 minutes which are sufficient to show your presentation skills, convert the answer sheet into a love letters' beauty. If you write beautiful no one cares what is written the first impact is the beauty next is the reality.

Tips:
- Write in dual ink blue and black.
- Leave sufficient space between the answers so that you can add to it later.
- Insert pencil lines everywhere in the paper.
- Underline important points in answer.
Mind it, this really works, this has made me score the highest marks of all.

Best of luck
Score high, break the records and Make us proud.

GATE .... 150 Days Left

Success in any competitive exam can't be obtained in a day or two, it requires a series of hard working days and sleepless nights for excellence. The same holds true for GATE, below are some strategies you should follow for GATE:

I have divided the left out 150 days in three sections.

During First 50 Days
You should go through your notes while following these steps:
First: while just reading it to learn the subject either in the coaching or through self study
Second: While preparing formula copy - I
Third:  While solving questions
Fourth: While preparing Formula Copy -II, this time keeping in mind to give more weight-age to the topics you feel are weak and adding few more new things to it.

Next 50 Days
Around these days you will be having your semester exams so,
Weekly Practice: Read the formula copy completely in a week.
Monthly Practice: Atleast go through all the subjects once a month just turn papers, this will help you build confidence.

Last 50 Days
What happens during the paper, you get stuck if you find something new so by the time you go for the appear make sure there is nothing new in the market regarding GATE for your paper. So follow this:
  • Join PAID test series of some reputed coaching.
  • Give FREE tests of different subjects through various websites on internet.
I will soon post the links to the different websites for free test.

These are just to guide you, it may differ from person to person. I have some standard textbook's PDF which you might find useful. just mention the name of book in the Link.Best of Luck !!!

Semester 5

Hello everyone, I am a passout of EI SGSITS, and has learnt alot in 4 years from the college and now its time for me to give back to it. I am sharing some of the resources in the form of notes, practical files, ebooks and formulas. This is just to save your time so that you can devote more time in your studies and less time searching for Study Material.

Syllabus of Semester 5
Click on the respective subjects to get access to scanned copy of notes, books and other practical files
  1. Industrial Engineering & Management
  2. Microprocessor Systems
  3. Power Electronics
  4. Analog Electronics
  5. Analog & Digital Communication
  6. Instrumentation workshop
  1. Industrial Engineering & Management
Be regular in the class,This will surely help you get good sessional. The subject is completely useless for future aspects so just mug up and clear it.

     2.  Microprocessor Systems
This is an important subject and needs complete attention from your side to learn the concepts of a processor, its programming. It has a lab session which is also very essential for getting the actual in depth of microprocessor. This is a basic stage of learning a micro controller which you will be using further in your Projects.

     3. Power Electronics
This is a subject of electrical department but is necessary for us, because of the way it is taught in the class. The practicals are also important and gives a real industrial environment feeling. Keep concentration in class as well in practical and you will find it very simple.

     4.  Analog Electronics
No doubt this the another basic subject for an Electronics Engineering after Network Analysis. Build up your concepts through classroom as well as book reading, you need to have a very good command on the subject.

     5.  Analog & Digital Communication
This is again an out of department subject but it has its own values for which it is taught in third year. You might not find a good teacher but still you will have to work hard to get a good command over communication.

    6.  Instrumentation workshop
A good Instrumentation engineer should have innovative design skills. How so even you are good in your theoretical knowledge it is useless until you implement it to get a practical design. This is a subject to prove your skills and gives you opportunity to stand out of the crowd. Search out the web and find the best project based on micro controllers that you can perform. If you wish i can upload a tutorial on using Micro controllers. Please mention in the comment.

These are just to guide you, but the hard work has to be done by you. Please comment for any queries regarding the post.

What is your Paper choice for GATE 2015 ?

You might not have thought of this, but you need to decide. Choices available are IN and EC, because for Electronics and Instrumentation students the other option  EC is valid, as it has only some difference in terms of GATE syllabus. But its obvious that you can choose any other GATE paper also (But only ONE).
Below given is the comparison between the two, which helps you choose better.

The figure are just tentative and are meant to guide you.I assume that from above fact file it would be easier for you guys to choose your main stream for GATE and prepare accordingly.
Best of Luck.!!

Its High time to Decide !!!

It is very Important time now for final year guys to decide, I don't need to mention what. But its obvious that you people are not still clear with it, even if you have paid fees in various coaching institutes.

Even if you are unclear, you would have following choices:

1. GATE 2015
2. CAT 2014
3. Core Company
4. IT Industry
5.

1. GATE 2015
Majority fall in this category not because they like it, just because they are left with it. GATE is held in month of march, by the time placement season is almost over and people start preparing for GATE.
THIS IS USELESS.

Follow this:
Even if you want a placement and you think you can't crack GATE, don't worry you have 200 days left (Such a huge figure). Start to prepare for GATE meanwhile taking care of placements Interview. Even if you give 50% weightage to GATE and PLACEMENTS you have 100 days each, which is quite sufficient.

2. CAT 2014
This is the smartest choice of all according to me. Because it requires smart work than hard work. the exam falls in the seventh semester during October- November. You require time management to crack CAT.

3. Core Company
While appearing for Interview, the interviewer doesn't knows your past until you tell him about yourself. All your technical, robotics and project work is useless until you are able to express it to them that too very effectively.
i) For those who assume themselves technically strong, make your self smart enough to express your skill set.
ii) For those who assume themselves technically weak, make your self smart enough to pull the interviewer towards your skill set which may be non technical.

4. IT Industry
For 90% of Final year Electronics/ Electrical Engineers, this is not a choice, this is what you are left with at the end. So don't let someone else choose your destiny rather you make your own.

So after placement in an IT Company
i) For those who have dream to work in IT sector, brush up your C notes.
ii) For those who are not satisfied, don't worry you have time to prepare for other competitive exams.

5. NOT TO BE DISCUSSED AT THIS POINT OF TIME.

If someone has any other query please comment below and share it with your friends. They might help you choose a better option for you.
Good Luck !

There are few things you need to take care of :
  • Be regular in Sarkar sir class, He is a very good as a teacher. Take his class seriously, come prepared in his class. Control is very useful for GATE point of view.
  • Intelligent Instrumentation is a scoring subject.
  • Medical Instrumentation & Analytical Methods is useful for GATE point of view.
  • Micro controllers & Embedded Systems requires more efforts than classroom teaching. Important for GATE
  • VLSI Technology is useful subject for those who want to continue their studies in technical field.
  • Don't worry much about the Project Phase I, all the teachers in our department are easy on Projects but keep visiting them twice or thrice a month with your ideas.
